Campaign Co-ordinator (Walk to School, Primary)
Salary scale - £23,818 to £30,554
Location - London
About Living Streets
Living Streets is the national UK charity that works to bring our streets to life, with more walking in people-friendly public spaces. We started life as the Pedestrians Association back in 1929, and since then have been campaigning, lobbying and delivering projects that bring us closer to our vision of every street in the UK being a living street.
About the Walk to School Campaign
Living Streets' Walk to School Campaign is going through an exciting time of change and growth. Our overarching aim is to get more children walking to and from school, and to walk more during the day. The campaign is split into two main areas €“ primary and secondary schools. Since January 2008 we've had two people in post, funded by the Big Lottery Fund (through the Active Travel Consortium), to deliver the campaign in secondary schools. The primary side of things (which you will be leading) is well established, having started life in 1994 as a local campaign in Hertfordshire. We are now looking for the right person to work closely with the national steering group to take the primary campaign to a whole new level.
About the role:
To become our campaign co-ordinator, you'll need to demonstrate that you have been responsible for driving forward a major campaign for change. As part of your experience, we would expect you to be able to think creatively and strategically. At a more detailed level, you will need to be able to plan, budget and prioritise. You will be adept at working in partnership with other organisations, and you will know how to create infrastructures that encourage local partners and supporters to get involved. You'll be the internal and external face of the campaign, and will need excellent oral and written communication skills.
